  1. What is adsorption?
     
    The phenomenon that solid absorbs gas is called adsorption. Microcosmically, when gas molecule moves to the surface of solid (adsorbent), because of the mutual reaction between gas molecule and molecule in the surface of solid, gas molecule will stay on the surface intermittently, which makes the concentration of the solid surface increase. Generally, the stay will last for a little time and the change of concentration is also little. But for there exists strong action between some special gas molecule and solid, not only the time for stay is long (even eternally), but also the concentration is high. Such phenomenon is the adsorption that gas molecule makes on the surface of solid. Adsorption can be classified into two types. One is physical adsorption that means the inter-force between molecule of adsorbent material and adsorbent molecule is Vander Val gravitation; the other is chemical adsorption that means chemical affinity forms between molecule of adsorbent material and adsorbent molecule. DY adsorption is chemical adsorption. 
     
  2. What is heat energy refrigeration? Why Pro. Li’s technology is called “DY heat energy adsorption technology”? 
     
    During refrigeration, it is necessary to consume certain amount of external energy that can be mechanical energy or electricity or heat or potential energy. When the energy consumed is heat, the way making refrigeration artificially is by the name of “heat energy refrigeration”.
    Professor Li, with twenty years’ painstaking efforts and researching, has successfully attained to the continuity and practicality of adsorption refrigeration, and formed the distinct vital adsorption refrigeration theory. Because the theory is on the basis of adopting adsorption refrigeration and making use of heat, it belongs to adsorption refrigeration and heat energy refrigeration. Therefore, such technology is called “DY heat energy adsorption refrigeration”.
     
  3. What is required of heat source by DY adsorption refrigeration? 
     
    DY adsorption refrigeration technology can utilize solar energy and any heat source with temperature over 110℃, no matter which is hot water or evaporate, valid energy or waste heat.

  8. What is generator?
     
    Generator is the key part of DY adsorption refrigeration equipment. It functions as a container, in which DY adsorbent and adsorbent materials make absorption and adsorption with each other, and heat energy of diesel engine exhaust is changed into that of adsorbent materials. During different stages of one refrigeration cycle, reaction of adsorption and absorption between DY adsorbent and adsorbent materials happens here.

  11. How the heat is changed into cold?
     
    According to refrigeration theory, any energy can be utilized to get refrigeration. There is the whole working process of DY fishing vessel diesel engine exhaust icemaker following:
    In generator, some heat energy of heat source is transformed into the energy of adsorbent materials (ammonia), then ammonia enters condenser, in which, gaseous ammonia at high temperature is condensed into liquid at low temperature, and the heat energy released is carried away by seawater. After passing through throttle valve, liquefied ammonia flows into icemaker and absorbs heat to turn into gas, and freeze brine in icemaker. Afterwards, gaseous ammonia is adsorbs by generator. So far, a whole refrigeration cycle has finished, and the heat of diesel engine exhaust has correspondingly become into cold of flake ice on icemaker.
     
  12. When does DY fishing vessel diesel engine exhaust icemaker commence and finish refrigerating?

If seawater used to chill is at the temperature high than designed, the condensing temperature will go up and refrigeration effect per unit volume will reduce. Then, consumption of refrigeration effect for making ice correspondingly increases, and the amount of ice produced reduces too.

  15. What is the influence on the effect of DY icemaker system when diesel engine is unloaded or heavy-loaded?
     
    The horsepower of diesel engine differs when it is unloaded or heavy-loaded. Even its load is same, its horsepower varies, so the practical horsepower of diesel engine at certain time is very difficult to ascertain. The heavier load the diesel engine has during certain period, the bigger its horsepower is. And the higher the temperature of its exhaust is, the more the heat that exhaust contains. Correspondingly, the efficiency of icemaker is much better. While when its load becomes smaller, its actual horsepower turns smaller too. Then, temperature of exhaust falls down and the heat that exhaust contains diminishes, and the efficiency of ice making becomes worse. All is depended on performance and operation of diesel engine.
     
  16. According to the horsepower of your diesel engine, how to estimate the refrigeration effect that DY icemaker should have if you want to fit it with your diesel engine?
     
    COP of DY icemaker ranges from 0.3 to 0.5. Use your horsepower to times 0.3—0.5, which results in the data that is the biggest refrigeration effect that the DY icemaker installed onboard your vessel can have.
    For example, if the horsepower of your diesel engine is 300KW, the biggest refrigeration effects that the DY icemaker you can install will be 90—150KW. 
    Taking the change of your diesel engine’s horsepower and operation into consideration, you’d better lower the coefficient from 0.3—0.5 to 0.1—0.3.
     
  17. What is the dimension of DY fishing vessel diesel engine exhaust icemaker?

    We will try our best to design its dimension and arrange its installation in accordance with the current conditions of your vessel. We can make it one whole part or two parts even three parts, in a word, all will be done for your convenience. 
    Generally speaking, if one icemaker with 12KW refrigeration effect is made into one part, it will have the dimensions as 1100×800×1600mm ( length×width×high), and covers an area of 0.88m2.
     
  18. Why does DY icemaker have no danger of ammonia leakage?
     

    In the whole system of DY icemaker, there exist motion parts only in icemaker (evaporator) and automatic control equipment. Moreover, there will not happen leakage unless motion parts of icemaker come into contact with ammonia. At present, we choose the icemaker produced by North Star of America to be compatible with our generator, so good quality can be guaranteed.
    On the other hand, our system has no liquefied ammonia when it does not run, the highest pressure that our system have is under 1.4Mpa, and the structure of system is airtight. So our system is of higher security and no any leakage.
     
  19. What is the difference and commence of DY icemaker and traditional ammonia compressive system?
     
    Neglecting generator, automatic control equipment and compressor, DY icemaker system and compressive refrigeration system of the same specification can replace with each other except that DY icemaker has no oil-ammonia separator. Generator of DY icemaker can replace with compressor of compressive icemaker, and DY icemaker’s automatic control equipment is especially designed on the basis of the characteristics of DY icemaker.
     
  20. How much does the maintenance of DY icemaker?
     
    Cause DY icemaker almost has no motion parts, the main maintenance is to add refrigerant regularly, which compared with compressive refrigeration consumes much smaller.
